Emotional intelligence (EQ) guide
Emotional and communication skills.
What is emotional intelligence (EQ)?
Emotional intelligence is the ability to notice, understand, and manage your own emotions and other people’s. Unlike academic ability, EQ shows up in how you communicate, decide, and stay resilient in real situations.
What dimensions does it usually cover?
- Self-awareness: noticing feelings and how they shape behavior
- Self-regulation: managing reactions under pressure and conflict
- Motivation: pursuing goals with inner drive
- Empathy: understanding others’ feelings and needs
- Social skill: communicating and collaborating well
How should you answer?
- Think about your typical behavior in recent weeks and months.
- Be honest; the result is for your growth, not a score to win.
- If you are between two options, pick the one closer to reality.
How is the result useful?
- See your emotional strengths
- Act more deliberately in personal and work relationships
- Handle stress and conflict more effectively
Note: This educational assessment follows Goleman’s model and supports self-knowledge; it is not a clinical diagnosis.
